At Wicklewood Primary School, we aim to deliver a high quality English curriculum, where the children are given the best possible opportunities to become confident, literate, successful members of society with a deep love and understanding of English language and literature. We believe the development of literacy skills is central to improving a child's life chances. Within our school environment, the adults always have high expectations for all children to make good progress and enjoy learning English where they are able to use the skills they have acquired in a range of contexts across the curriculum and beyond the school gates. We believe in giving all our children rich opportunities to communicate clearly in both spoken and written form and encourage them to be interested in vocabulary enough to become masters of language. Rich texts are at the heart of our teaching and a love for reading variety of texts is promoted throughout the school.
