Trees in Spring
We have been noticing how the trees are changing at Wicklewood school as we come into the middle to later part of Springtime. We talked about the importance of trees, what they provide us with and what grows from them. Shared ideas included: branches, twigs, blossom, flowers for the bees to make honey, fruits - cherries, apples, pears, coconuts. Hazelnuts, chestnuts, conkers. Trees provide paper, shelter and homes for animals.
We then worked with our learning partners to choose a leaf each and talk about the similarities and differences between those leaves. Key vocabulary included: pointy, spiky, sharp, rounded, strong, polished, waxy, soft, thin, and triangular.
Great exploration and scientific work Wren class.
