Starling 2025 - 2026
National Bird Watch 2026
Starling Class have spent much of this term learning about the birds in our environment. We also had a special focus during National Birdwatching Week, where the children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm for spotting and helping local wildlife.
The children began by designing their own bird feeders in class. We discussed which designs might work best, which might not, and what kinds of food birds might enjoy. After sharing lots of creative ideas, we decided it would be a great opportunity to recycle old milk bottles. The children carefully helped to cut the bottles into the correct shapes and then coloured and decorated them ready to place in our woodland area.
The class thought it would be a great idea to collect sticks to use as perches so that birds would have somewhere to stand while reaching the bird seed. Once finished, the children helped decorate our woodland area by hanging up their wonderful bird feeders. During one of our outdoor sessions, we were even lucky enough to spot a bird of prey while exploring!
Great work, Starling Class , it has been fantastic fun and a wonderful learning experience for everyone!
