Class Timetable 

Week Beginning Monday 8th June

 

 

We are currently reading stories about Place and Belonging related books in Jay Class. 

 

Our model text in Summer 1 is Kassim and the Greedy Dragon. We will be learning to retell the story using a story map and actions as a whole class. We will be examining lots of different aspects of the text. 

Once upon a time there was a poor boy called Kassim

who lived on the edge of a dark forest.

 

Early one frosty morning,

he woke up and began to walk to school…

but his Mummy warned him,

“Beware of the greedy dragon!”

 

So, he walked and he walked and he walked,

till he came to a damp, dark cave.

 

When he looked into the cave,

he saw dark shadows and heard heavy footsteps.

He crept inside and saw a pile of glittering jewels!

 

Unfortunately, something else was inside the cave.

Something very large.

Something very hungry.

 

It was the Greedy Dragon – 

with teeth like daggers

and claws like knives

and jaws of the coldest steel!

 

Kassim screamed,

and he ran and he ran and he ran,

with the dragon shivering

and shuffling along behind him.

 

In the nick of time, Kassim arrived home,

and in his hand he held

not one, not two but three glittering stones.
