We are currently in our second year of running the GR8ASUR programme.

This scheme began life as an anti -bullying programme for KS1 and has developed into a whole school approach from Nursery through to Year 6.

GR8ASUR’s aim is to stop bullying before it starts. The children are encouraged to develop their self-esteem and to welcome differences in others.

There are three main themes: GR8M8, CANDO and Chilled. Each one is supported by characters to help the children with the concepts.

GR8M8 focuses on developing children’s ability to support each other through 4-star steps:

  • Stand up to Feel Great
  • Talk to Someone
  • Always Help
  • Remember Everyone.

CANDO develops children’s resilience through the steps:

  • I can do it
  • I can grow
  • I can bounce (back)
  • I can be unstoppable

CHILLED focuses on children’s mental health.

Each new theme is launched with a Fun Day where special guests come in to work with the children and really motivate them. There is also an annual magic show linked to GR8ASUR for EYFS and KS1.

There are stories to watch and certificates to earn. The content of GR8ASUR is also linked closely to the PSHE curriculum and covers many areas of this.

We also have our Allstars (children from Year 3 upwards) who work at playtime to help children sort out problems and have a safe and happy playtime.

Billy, in year 5, decided to raise money for the Australia fire disaster He organised a bake sale which raised £180 and donated it to ‘Kookies4Koalas’. Little did he know that he would get a personal thank you for some well-known faces!
