Week Beginning: 29th June 2020
Hello Wonderful Wrens,
What a hot week it was last week. I hope you all had your paddling pools out and you could cool down in the shade!
We hope you enjoyed Supertato. We loved seeing all the new Supertatoes that you created … they were all different and all super! What amazing adventures they all had too!
This week we are doing another traditional tale. It may be one that you are less sure of. If you have your own copies of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ at home, make sure you read it together with your family to see if your version differs from the one you watch on Monday.
Take care and have fun.
Mrs Leaford and Mrs Nixon 😊
For the last few weeks of the year we are going to focus on some key activities for our daily phonics lessons. We believe that these activities will really help your child to prepare for the move to year 1 in September.
The daily Read, Write, Inc. lessons are still available to watch at the website below.
This week the focus for our literacy work is The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
This week we will be completing grouping and sharing word problems.
(and understanding the world!)
Listen to the story of the Three Billy Goat’s Gruff using the link below.
There is also a PowerPoint version at the bottom of the page. Read this with a grown up. See if you can read the words in red, while an adult reads the words in black.
Look at the maths word problems worksheet (at the bottom of the page). Try to complete 1 question a day. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
Oh no! The Billy Goats Gruff have a problem. Watch Mrs Leaford’s video to find out more and learn how you can help!
Complete activity named ‘Tuesday Literacy’.
Yesterday you designed a raft to help the Billy Goats Gruff cross the river. Today you must build your raft. Don’t forget to try it out in your bathtub to make sure it floats. We don’t want the Billy Goats Gruff to sink!
Once you have tested it, complete the evaluation at the bottom of the page (named ‘Wednesday Literacy’)
HELP! A storm has damaged the bridge! Watch Mrs Nixon’s video on Tapestry to see what you need to do to!
Complete activity named
Have a look at different bridges to help you. (named Bridge pictures)
Yesterday you thought about how to make a strong bridge. Today you must finish building your bridge if you didn’t yesterday and the test how strong it is. Maybe you could test it by putting small toys on the top and see how many toys it can hold. I wonder if you could make it even stronger?
Once you have tested it, put your bridge on Tapestry. I hope it was strong!
Explore some reading books on Oxford Owl.
Don’t forget to read some of the words and sentences from the Billy Goats Gruff story at the bottom of the page.
