Tuesday 21st April 2020 Wicklewood Primary School Swift class Year 2
Hello Super Swift Class!
I have enjoyed the sunshine while I have been working. I even did some of my work outside yesterday. It’s important to get fresh air and be active outdoors every day. I wonder after doing your online learning what outdoor activity you could do today?
I hope you are all safe and well.
From Miss Harvey 😊
Teach Your Monsters to Read
Just a reminder I have registered the class with the online phonics/reading resource ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’ which can be accessed at https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/u/5044189
Your child’s logon details are the same as their PurpleMash logins.
Well done to these three monsters who have worked really hard on their reading challenge!
Read, Write, Inc.
Your child will need to practise their phonics daily.
Please access the ‘Read Write Inc Phonics Lessons at Home Page’ on YouTube at
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ/featured for a daily phonics lesson.
Parents should first watch the 3 minute ‘Parent Video: Introduction to Daily Read Write Inc. Phonics Lesson’. There are many other helpful Read Write Inc videos on this page for parents and on the Oxford Owl website.
The sound your child will need to focus on will depend on their RWI group before the school closure. Today’s phonic lessons are:

See separate activities to practise reading and diary writing skills. This includes a set of instructions, angry cat story from yesterday, activities and the answer sheet (complete writing and drawing tasks in home school sharing book, exercise book or a notebook).
Writing task – You are going to write Angry Cat’s diary entry, recounting the very angry-making day she had! Can you use the conjunctions because, when and if in your diary writing? Can you use at least one conjunction at the start of a sentence? (When
Dog came in, I felt very angry indeed.)
See separate activities to practise multiplication and arrays. This includes a reminder, two levels of practice sheet (write answers in home school sharing book, exercise book or a notebook), guidance if you get a bit stuck and a few questions to check your understanding. All the answers are provided so that you can ‘tick or fix’ your work with an adult.
Can I create arrays? A bit stuck
Can I identify both multiplication facts using arrays? Mild and investigation
Can I identify both multiplication facts using arrays? Hot and investigation
Log into your Purple Mash account (see log in information sheet). Go into to 2Dos, I have set you 3 mini geography challenges – continents, oceans and compass points. These areas of geography we have already learnt about this year, it will be interesting to see how much you can remember!
This year we have spent lots of time in science exploring living animals including humans.
Log into Discover expresso (see log in information sheet). Search ‘living dead’
Read the online book and then play the game below ‘sorting: living, dead or never lived?
