The governors at Wicklewood School are the people who work quietly behind the scenes supporting and challenging the school. They are ultimately responsible for the running of the school, although the major part of that is delegated to the head teacher on a day to day basis.

The governing body acts as a critical friend to the school, offering opinions, evaluating progress, and being part of all major decision-making.

The governors attend a termly meeting of either the ‘Operational’ or the ‘Raising Standards’ committee, as well as a Full Governing Body meeting.

They also have individual responsibilities for curriculum areas such as Maths, Literacy, Health and Safety, Special educational needs etc.

The clerk to the governors is responsible for setting the meetings, all the associated paper-work and any legal requirements.
