Swift Class Mon 20th April

Hello Wonderful Swift class

I hope you had a lovely Easter and had a rest. I have provided some learning activities for you to complete at home.

I appreciate that not everyone will have access to a printer so none of the activities I have set require printing. I recommend you record your work in your home learning book, an exercise book or a notebook. Young children should be appropriately supervised when using online resources.

I hope you are all safe and well.
From Miss Harvey 😊

I would like you to read some eBooks as well as the books you have at home. Read for 15 minutes a day and share stories with your family.

Use My Class Login button (classname: swift class, password: year2) on www.oxfordowl.co.uk website to access the ebooks.

Read the following books by filtering series to Read Write Inc or by age group. The books I want you to read this week will be based on your Read Write Inc colour group we use for phonics.

English

See separate activities to practise reading, grammar and writing skills. This includes a set of instructions, angry cat story, activities and the answer sheet (complete writing and drawing tasks in home school sharing book, exercise book or a notebook).

Writing task – Write two clause sentences using a conjunction. Don’t forget “say the sentence, capital letter, full stop” chant.

Can I extend sentences by using conjunctions? Dog & frog.

Can I write my own two clause sentences using a conjunction to link them together?

Can I write my own two clause sentences using a conjunction link them? Can you also place the conjunction at the start of the sentence?

Maths

See separate activities to practise odd and even numbers. This includes a reminder, two levels of practice sheet (write answers in home school sharing book, exercise book or a notebook), guidance if you get a bit stuck and a few questions to check your understanding. All the answers are provided so that you can ‘tick or fix’ your work with an adult. You may want to print the number cards or make your own (playing cards of single digits also work well).

Religious Education

I had lots of exciting RE Easter activities planned which we didn’t get the time to do! Today I challenge you to complete a RE Easter project. Read the attached information about Easter provided by Norwich Cathedral then watch the Easter story. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/religious-studies-ks1-the-christian-story-of-easter/zhgv47h.

You can choose which Easter activity you would like to complete:

  • Design and make your own Easter cross
  • Retell the Easter story with pictures
  • What does Easter mean to Christians? Write down 4 things!
  • Research how Christians celebrate Easter around the world.
