I hope you enjoyed your interactive math’s lesson yesterday. I have another one for you to try today. So far in our home learning we have been doing lots of recapping of knowledge and skills that we learnt in class before the school closed. Next week we will start learning new topics in English and Maths. I will give you different levels of challenge and all I ask is ‘Be the best you can be’.
Read, Write, Inc.
Your child will need to practise their phonics daily.
Please access the ‘Read Write Inc Phonics Lessons at Home Page’ on YouTube at
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ/featured for a daily phonics lesson.
Parents should first watch the 3 minute ‘Parent Video: Introduction to Daily Read Write Inc. Phonics Lesson’. There are many other helpful Read Write Inc videos on this page for parents and on the Oxford Owl website.
The sound your child will need to focus on will depend on their RWI group before the school closure. Today’s phonic lessons are:

Following on from yesterday’s lesson today I want you to compare yesterday’s story to another version of the same story. See separate activities to practise reading and writing skills. There is a sheet you can print out if not write the similarities and differences straight into your notepad/workbook.
Writing task: Write a character profile about one of the characters from the story.
Write 4 sentences about what the character looks like and how they act in the story. Use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
Write a paragraph describing your character and use interesting adjectives and conjunctions – and, because.
Write two paragraphs describing your character and use interesting adjectives and subordinate conjunctions – because, when, if,
We are using Oak National Academy video lessons again today. Each lesson has a starter quiz, a teaching video to watch, a talking task, an independent task and a plenary quiz to see what you can remember.
We were learning about 3D shapes before school closed so today I want you to continue practising this area of maths using the video and resources. Today we are looking at what 2D shapes we can see on the surfaces of 3D shapes. Click on the link and follow the on-screen instructions. When you get to the independent task I suggest you record your answers in your notepad/workbook then you can tick or fix your work!
This year in art we have learnt how to draw portraits and how to collage. I would like you to create a collage picture of something that is important to you. It could be an object or even a person.
I understand you may not have lots of art resources including glue at home. Use whatever you can find at home – toys, material, household objects. Lay it on a flat surface to build your picture. It doesn’t need to be stuck down. Take a photograph when you have finished if you can so I can see it when we go back to school.
Before school closed Mr Allard was teaching you dance in P.E. Keeping with our theme of witches with Baba Yaga in English I would like you to join Oti Mabuse and learn a witch dance from the musical Wicked.
And yes I have learnt to do it too! There are some tricky parts but I know you will have lots of fun!
